Ornament is not a crime: Contemporary interiors with a postmodern twist

What I do

As a design writer, I know how to find and tell a good story.

I've interviewed more than 300 architects and designers and written about 500 projects and counting for magazines, websites, books, media releases, blog posts and award submissions.

If you're an architect, designer or builder, I'll help you communicate what you do and why, and promote the value of good architecture and design.

My story

I'm a writer, researcher and design historian.

I've been writing about design and architecture for more than ten years and have been widely published in magazines, books and across websites in Australia and internationally. I've written articles, designer profiles, project stories, media releases, blog posts and sustainability guides for all facets of the A&D industry.

I have a master's degree in the history of decorative arts and design from Parsons School of Design in New York. I love learning about and understanding history through the lens of architecture, design and visual culture. I wrote a course module about the history of architecture and design. I've written several books, ghost written a handful more and edited and copyedited a good stack.

Three things I've learnt along the way:
Creativity is born out of curiosity and constraints.
It leads to clever ideas that help us live better and improve our day. That's what I love about architecture and that's what architects and designers do best.

Good architecture should be more highly valued, accessible and widespread.
Everyone should have the benefit of living in and using well-designed houses, buildings and spaces. It would also go a long way to improving our cities, streets and environment.

Every architect, designer, practice and building is different.
There is always a story to tell.
