What I do

I know how to word this way

As a design writer, I know how to find and tell a good story. I've interviewed more than 300 architects and designers and written about 300 projects and counting for magazines, websites, books, media releases, blog posts and award submission.

If you're an architect, designer or builder or who needs words, hand the copy to me. I'll help you communicate and promote the value of good architecture and design - specifically yours.

About Me

My Story
.
I've been writing about design and architecture for more than ten years and have been widely published in magazines and across websites in Australia and internationally. I've written media releases, blog posts, sustainability guides, designer profiles and project descriptions for all facets of the A&D industry. I've written several books, ghost written a couple more, and edited and copyedited a whole heap.

I have a masters in the history of decorative arts and design from Parsons School of Design in New York, and I love learning about understanding history through the lens of architecture, design and visual culture.
What I’ve learnt
Creativity is borne out of curiosity and constraints and it leads to clever ideas that help us live better and improve our day. That's what I love about architecture and that's what architects do best.

Architecture should be more highly valued, accessible, sustainable and widespread. Not only should everyone have the benefit of living in welldesigned houses, but it would go a long way to improving our cities, streetscapes and environment.

Every architect, designer, practice and building is different and there is always a different and unique story to tell.
How I’ve learnt it
  • Masters in the history of decorative arts and design, Parsons School of Design, New York
  • Copywriting council certificate, Copywriting Council, Sydney
  • Bachelor in marketing, University of Otago, Dunedin
  • Certificate of proficiency in translating archi-speak, School of Talking to Architects, Sydney

Like good architecture, it’s all about the details. Don’t forget the L or you’ll end up in the wrong place. (She’s a writer too.)
